How did this start?

Many moons ago, a woman in purple pants and a turquoise top was dancing by the water’s edge of the Red River. Unbeknownst to her, close by was a man who was moving his body expressively on the grassy green boulevard of the riverside. He was wearing purple pants, a turquoise top and without knowing it consciously, he was longing for a friend.

Suddenly, as he lifted his head off the grass, the two people locked eyes, gently moved in close together, and without words started dancing by the water.

One year later, the man and woman started a family together, and in the summer of 2013, United Friendship Circle was born.

What is our mission?

Your whole life you’ve been taught to search for love outside of yourself. You’ve been taught to search for who you are in shopping bags, sexual experiences and social relationships. Our mission is to help you give up the search. Our mission is to help you discover that the love that you search for everywhere is already present within you. It may be evoked by any number of people or events. A mountain can evoke this love. A sunset can evoke this love. But finally, you must realize you are this love. The source of all love is within you.

We are here to take you beyond your mind into a practice of Self-inquiry – to discover that you are not the stories in your mind, but, you are the radiance of love – a shining shimmering, immortal, eternal, holy, infinite soul.

Who are we?

In the heart of Winnipeg’s Exchange District, we are a team of teachers, artists and healers who have all come through major challenges in our lives to develop skills and spiritual practices that have brought us excellence and ecstasy.

We can promise you that there will surely be stormy days ahead, but, we can also promise you that after every storm the sun will peek through the clouds and the sky will be filled with radiant light.

Here in the Exchange District it is our deepest desire to help you turn your attention towards the sun that is always shining. Clouds or no clouds, the sun doesn’t care. The sun just keeps on shining. Sometimes we all need a friend to remind us about the big beautiful sun that is lighting up the whole world.

What choices do I have?

Before you attempt to escape your pain by engaging with a harmful addictive pattern or attempting to commit suicide, we urge you to believe that there are other options available to you.

In the heart of this city there’s a place you can come to when you feel confused, lost or afraid – A place where you can sit down and connect with spiritually minded people who aren’t paid a dime to do what we do.

All of the friends who volunteer at United Friendship Circle do this because we love it. We aren’t therapists or doctors and just like therapists and doctors we can’t give you an instant remedy for all that ails you.

What we can do is guarantee you that life is a lot more enjoyable with a daily dose of spiritual experiences, uplifting activities and fulfilling friendships.

Community is essential for everyone and people get well in groups!

How can you help us?

Though we have asked the provincial and federal governments of Canada for support more than once, thus far we have not gotten any support. Without the support of the government, this organization does not get any funding and the only way the circle expands is through your mouth and your fingers.

Please tell your friends, family and community about this spiritual centre.

May the friendship circle grow by way of your hand and your heart.

Welcome to the circle friend! We’re excited to meet you!
